One moreĀ  Downtown After 5 produced by the Asheville Downtown Association the 3rd Friday in September. It is going be an awesome show to close the season. Then on to Oktoberfest and the Holiday Parade. It is always a blast to work with ADA but I'm looking forward to winter break starting mid-afternoon on the Saturday before Thanksgiving when the parade is over until next spring. Jamie will be missed as she move on to bigger things for her in Tryon. Road trip.

Alice just called and I'll be headed back to volunteer in Jonesborough for the 43 edition of the National Storytelling Festival. I wasn't there in year one with Connie, Ray and Gwenda. Thirty three years ago when I showed up on my brother's door step for vacation he had tacked a ticket to the door with a message that said "Some of us have to work!" So I headed about three miles up W Walnut to my first National Storytelling Festival. After a couple years they talked me into driving a cart and now for the better part of twenty years doing registration. I can remember telling in front of the courthouse and the coming and going of tents and many amazing tellers. Maybe most fondly I recall the last appearance of Ray, Jackie, Doc, Syd and Katherine. My brother and Faith celebrated their wedding in the International Storytelling Center. As an era passes in my family with brother so ill with ALS it will be good to be back one more time.

Thanks to Barbara Freeman and folks at Pisgah Dude Ranch. I got to spend a rainy evening in the study telling stories in front of the fireplace. I had planned to head into town for Okie Dokie BBQ, some of the best in town but I got a better offer, they invited me to stay for a wonderful pot roast dinner and I got to stay dry. Barbara take another night off any time. I'd love to be invited back.

It was indeed a privilege to produce the anniversary gala. Three legendary ladies and a great celebration of 20 years for the Asheville Storytelling Circle.

It was great to be invited back for another season of Stories on Asheville's Front Porch in the Rino Courtyard at Dianna Wortham Theater, Pack Place. John and Marci were amazing to share the stage with.
